2 – Swades (English meaning: Our Country) is a 2004 Indian drama film written, produced and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, based on the true life story of a Non-resident Indian (NRI) man who returns to his homeland. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Gayatri Joshi, Kishori Ballal in leading roles, with Daya Shankar Pandey, Rajesh Vivek, Lekh Tandon appearing in supporting role and Makrand Deshpande in a special appearance. The film was considered ahead of its time, and received widespread critical acclaim at its release. It is now considered a cult classic of Hindi cinema. 3 – Rang De Basanti: transl. Color it in saffron; Hindi pronunciation is a 2006 Indian Hindi-language drama film written, produced and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, and co-written by Rensil D’Silva. The literal meaning of the title is “Paint me with the colours of spring”. It featured an ensemble cast comprising Aamir Khan, Siddharth Narayan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni and British actress Alice Patten in the lead roles. It was shot in and around New Delhi. Upon release, the film broke all opening box office records in India. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and had the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood film.

4 – Chak De! India (transl. Let’s Go! India) is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language sports film directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Aditya Chopra, partially based on the 2004 film Miracle, with sports scenes choreographed by Rob Miller and music by Salim–Sulaiman. It tells a fictional story about the Indian women’s national field hockey team, which was inspired by the team’s win at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and explores themes such as feminism and sexism, the legacy of the partition of India, racial and religious bigotry, and ethnic and regional prejudice.

The film stars Shahrukh Khan as Kabir Khan, former captain of the Indian men’s national field-hockey team. After a disastrous loss to Pakistan, Khan is ostracized from the sport and he and his mother are driven from the family home by angry neighbors. Seven years later, to redeem himself, Khan becomes the coach of the Indian national women’s hockey team and aims to turn its sixteen contentious players into a championship unit.
