The Top Tips For Hotel Managers During The Busy Season For Guests

If you are the manager of a hotel then you already know how difficult a job that you do every single day and the amount of responsibility that you have trust upon your shoulders. It becomes even more difficult if you are part of a busy hotel chain that welcomes customers both business and pleasure every day of the week throughout the year. There are some parts of the year however that are busier than others and so it takes a lot more effort on your part and on the part of your staff members to make sure that customers get what they pay for and are provided exceptional customer service.

During these particularly busy times, it can sometimes be difficult budgeting for the various items that you will need to take care of your guests and staff. It’s likely that you have some kind of book that you refer to in order to give you some idea of how to take care of your stock control during these busy times. There is technology out there that can help you to keep your finger on the pulse of how your hotel is performing and it is called hotel purchasing software. You need to start moving away from the manual processes that you currently have in place and enjoy the benefits that this software provides.

This is just one way to help you as a manager during your particularly busy season this year and the following are some more.

  • Give everyone a heads up – You will of course be surrounded by many experienced staff who have been with you since the beginning of your management role. There will be others however who joined later on and so these are the people that you need to tell about the busy times that are coming their way and this should be part of your management toolkit. Even your seasoned employees have a lot on their mind and so they may need a gentle reminder as well.
  • Restrict days off – It will be a particularly busy time of the year and so you need all hands on deck to make sure that all customers are taken care of and that everyone leaves your establishment happier than when they came in. If any of your staff are going to be putting in for vacation time during your peak period then unfortunately, you will have to decline them and ask them to schedule holidays at a later date.
  • Start creating employee schedules now – The last thing that you want to do is leave scheduling until the last moment because during particularly busy times, it may be impossible for staff to be able to swap schedules around. By letting everyone know if they are on the morning, afternoon or night shift, you are putting plans in place to make sure that everything runs smoothly.

If you follow these three pieces of advice then there’s no reason why your peak period shouldn’t be successful.
